Christopher
M. Truchan attended The College of New Jersey, receiving a Bachelor
of Arts degree in English and a minor in Biology. During undergrad,
he had the opportunity to study at the University of Northumbria in
Newcastle, England and travel around Europe visiting cities like
Berlin, Oslo, Krakow and Florence.
Prior to law school,
Mr. Truchan worked at the largest debt collection law firm in New
Jersey. He also worked as an editorial assistant for Pearson
Education, the global leader in educational publishing. Mr. Truchan
often worked with the legal department of Pearson drafting contracts
for their authors. He also worked as a paralegal at a small
boutique firm specializing in family law, landlord tenant law and
real estate transactions. This previous legal work experience
provided Mr. Truchan with a practical understanding of the law
before entering law school.
Mr. Truchan received
his Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law in April of
2009. He acted as the vice president for the Student Intellectual
Property Law Association and was also a member of the Entertainment
and Sports Law Society. Mr. Truchan received the highest grade on
his scholarly writing paper entitled “Fair Use in the Age of User
Created Content.”
Mr. Truchan first
joined the firm’s San Diego office as a law clerk in 2008. He
became an associate attorney in 2009 upon his admittance to the
California Bar. He also acts as co-chair for the MCLE program at
the firm.
Mr. Truchan grew up
in Northwest New Jersey, an hour outside of New York City. In his
free time he enjoys painting, surfing the shore of his town of Ocean
Beach and seeking out rare vinyl for his record collection. His
favorite teams are the New York Giants, the Bengals and the San
Diego’s Chargers. Staying true to his English major roots, Mr.
Truchan enjoys reading classical literature by Thoreau, Joyce and
Melville.
